She collaborates with animal welfare certifications, such as Certified Humane, Global Animal Partnership (GAP), Animal Welfare Approved, American Humane Certified and more. Dr. Temple Grandin
Advisor Dr. Temple Grandin is an expert on animal behavior and Professor of Animal Science at Colorado State University. Dr. Grandin has designed humane handling systems for half the cattle-processing facilities in the US, as well as in Canada, Europe, Mexico, Australia, and New Zealand. Her writings on the flight zone and other principles of grazing animal behavior have helped reduce stress on animals during handling. Dr. Grandin has appeared on 20/20, 48 Hours, CNN Larry King Live, Prime Time Live, and The Today Show. She has been featured in People Magazine, the New York Times, Forbes, and U.S. News and World Report. In 2010, Time Magazine named her one of the 100 most influential people. Dr. Wendy Fulwider
Advisor Dr. Fulwider studied under Dr. Temple Grandin and is a Professional Animal Auditor Certification Organization (PAACO)-certified auditor. She works with producers to provide third party audits to evaluate their handling and housing practices and improve animal well-being. Dr. Fulwider was the Farm Animal Care Specialist for Organic Valley, the nation’s largest organic farmer cooperative, as well as for the Global Animal Partnership (GAP) 5-Step rating program created by Whole Foods and used by Fortune 500 retailers and restaurant chains. Dr. Fulwider’s love for animals stems from her childhood experiences growing up on her family’s dairy farm near Fond du Lac, WI. Her graduate research on cow comfort at the Arlington Research Station sparked her interest in animal behavior and welfare. Sarah has collaborated with dairy farmers in Ireland, Peru, and Bolivia, and has worked with Kroger and Starbucks to make humane animal welfare sourcing improvements. Principal & Advisor Dr. Giuliana Miguel-Pacheco is an animal behavior and welfare scientist with expertise in farm animal-based welfare indicators. She has worked on various animal behavior and welfare projects in the United States, The United Kingdom, Mexico, and Canada, publishing in recognized academic journals in the areas of animal production and welfare. Dr. Miguel-Pacheco is a veterinarian with an MSc in Applied Animal Behavior and Welfare from the University of Edinburgh, and a Ph.D. in Dairy Cattle Behavior and Welfare from the University of Nottingham in England. Certified Nutritionist Ms. Gerberich, MS, CN is a certified nutritionist educating people to increase their level of nourishment through the foods they eat. She teaches people how to incorporate healthy foods and sustainable “good for you-good for the earth” practices into their lives based on individual preferences and needs. Ms. Gerberich has served as a Wellness Advisor at Whole Foods, as a Nutrition Therapist at The Chiropractic Wellness Center, and is adjunct Professor at Roosevelt University teaching Sustainable Food courses. She has over 10 years of leadership experience in sustainable food systems and mission-driven business development as a project director, researcher, communications manager, and field liaison.
